Before the Stellas, Saltigas, Accurates, Van Staals, and other full metal bodied reels, most of my gears were cheap K-mart Walmart, and base exchange graphite reels with matching rod combos. I was a landlocked angler, but still managed to hook some quality fish from shore using it. Trout, landlocked Salmon, Bluefish, Jacks, and Stripers in the east coast to the big White Seabass (Suzuki) in Japan. Yup, huge White Seabass would come into the harbor at Yokusuka Naval base during spawning season. Throwing redhead lure with white body was candy these behemoths couldn't resist. The pic below are some old kiddie graphite reels my kids used when, well, when they were still kids. I found them going through my stuff in my garage and decided to keep it. Lots of memories of fun times spent fishing with my kids are embedded in these reels. Tiny hands cranking those reels reeling in trout and small macks. Time sure flies!
