2-Day Rockod Trip

Well, after many weeks of cabin fever sitting at home staring at the tube, I finally got my first trip for 2013 done!  A great way to start the sportfishing season opener.  It was another epic trip with the Senor Tuna crew, fishing the rail with old and new friends on-board the Pacific Star.  On this trip I only brought two rigs for two days of fishing--one conventional and one spinning combo.  I think this is the first trip ever I fished conventional gear almost the entire time.  Truly a good way to get used to that thumb guiding your line so that it lays on the spool evenly as you reel in the fish.   Now that my right-hand thumb had some training (hahaha!), I'm more confident now to use conventional setups for my trip in September on-board the Maximus for a shot at some bigger tuna.  I'm quite sure I might have some short trips before then to practice some more.   On this trip, I also used the same B2 squid rig I used last year, and again it proved so deadly.  You'll see it on most of the videos below.  It got a bit tiring as I instantly got hookups once it got to the zone.  The only downside is I have to let out more line, as the rubbery material is somewhat buoyant and it offsets the weight of the torpedo sinker inside its body.  Coupled with the current, it took more line just to get into the zone which meant more cranking.  Enjoy and hope you like the videos.  Fish on bros!

The Gears:
