Shimano Ocea Blue Rose (Full Gene)

One of the best jigging rod I've ever owned--the "Old School" Shimano Ocea Blue Rose!  Beautifully crafted, and lightweight.  You can jig with it all day long with less fatigue compared to other rods in the market.  The blank is strong and forgiving but with awesome lifting power.  Definitely the jigging rod you want to add to your collection.  The Blue Rose featured below is the Full Gene S517F rated up to 240gm jigs.  I've fought some nice Yellowtails with it and loved it!  I plan on adding heavier rated Blue Rose to my collection in the future, if I could find one.  Too bad Shimano stopped making the Blue Rose.  I'm glad I never let go of mine.

Sea Lion Snatched Our Yellowtail!

This happened on my last trip fishing for Yellowtails.  We hooked a nice 30lber Yellowtail when a Sea Lion grabbed it.  This started our battle to reclaim what is ours against this Sea Lion that was hell bent on getting a freebee.  We even threw a couple of rockcod at it as a peace offering to let our Yellowtail go, but it ignored it.  In the end the line parted and the Sea Lion won.

Gear Review - CB One Z4 Vertical Motion Rear Drive 100gm

Here's a jig by CB One that I picked up last year that I haven't used.  I plan to use it on my trip in September casting for Yellowfin Tuna.  I'm going to rig it with a treble hook dressed with feathers.  I really like the shape, and the color scheme is just awesome!   Hopefully, it'll fool and catch a 3-digit YFT.
